Kay L. Thomsen (Bascom) 74, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial service will be held on Monday at 3 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Kay Lois Thomsen was born on December 30, 1940 to Ervin and Leona Petersen Thomsen in Reinbeck, Iowa. She worked at Square D for 38 years as a punch press operator. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be forever missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Kimberly) of Marble, CO; Teri Strait of Springville; Rick Bascom, Vicki (Gary) Bloxham, Cindy Bascom, and Rebecca (Mark) Palmer all of Cedar Rapids; Wayne (Chris) Veverka of Grinnell; and Larry (Alicia) Bascom of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Leon (Meri) Thomsen of Waverly and Gerry (Barb) Thomsen of Ryan; 23 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Pat Auman and Richard Bascom.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; a sister; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
