Memorial

Josephine Irma Carlson, 99, died peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in Urbandale. A funeral service will be held Monday April, 27 Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home beginning at 3:00pm. Friends may visit with the family at 2pm prior to the service.  
 
Josephine was born in Anamosa, Iowa on February 21, 1916 to Edward and Christina Hughes. On November 1, 1941 she married Arthur Carlson in Anamosa.

She is survived by her daughter Jo Ann (Jerry) Shively of Urbandale, grandchildren: Jeremy (Mandy) Shively of Davenport, Joseph Shively of Urbandale, Jessica (Joshua) Shwery of Waukee, great grandchildren: Elizabeth Frett, Imagin Shively, Gavin Shively, Landon Shively and Logan Shwery, sibling Benita Breiholz.
   
 Josephine was preceded in death by her parents Christiana and Edward Hughes, husband, Arthur T. (Swede) Carlson, great granddaughter McKenzie Jo Shwery, siblings: Mary Lucille Hughes, Elizabeth Hanson, Edward Jr. Hughes, Donald Hughes and Charles Hughes.
