Drew Ryan Haase, 31, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Drew was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 27, 1984 and died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in South Bend, Indiana. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 10, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, in Hiawatha, Iowa, beginning at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana will be announced at a future date.

Drew is survived by his parents Don and Kelly Haase; his brothers Kyle Haase and Keane Haase, sisters Clancy Haase of Cedar Rapids and Darby Seymour (Mitch) of Solon, IA; his grandmother Debby Roach of Des Moines and grandparents Mary and Jerry Haase of Apache Junction, Arizona; his godparents Julie and Mark Sundermeier of Blair, Nebraska. Drew is survived by the love of his life, Jessica Welborn. He will also be deeply missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Drew was preceded in death by his cousin, Heather (Bennett) Krogman and his grandfather, Patrick J. Roach. Grandpa Pat was an inspirational role model in his life. We are certain Drew is in Heaven with him, making a batch of sloppy joes or hitting a few golf balls.

Drew was a 2002 Graduate of Xavier High School.  He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2006, and Magna Cum Laude with his Juris Doctorate in 2009.  Upon graduation Drew practiced law as an Associate Attorney at Jenner & Block in Chicago from 2009 to 2013.  Drew was currently employed as a Law Clerk with the United States District Court, Northern District of Indiana.

In addition, Drew was an Adjunct Faculty at University of Notre Dame serving as Faculty and Coach for the Notre Dame Mock Trial Team.  In this role, Drew was able to share his passion for both Mock Trial and for the University of Notre Dame.  No one was more passionate about Notre Dame than Drew.  Drew coached his team to qualify for the upcoming National Mock Trial tournament which will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 17-19, 2015. He was so proud of his team for their accomplishments.  Drew’s life was influenced by the guidance of mentors Jim Efting, Tim Semelroth and Bill Dwyer.  Bill, Sam and Virginia Dwyer were a second family to Drew.

Drew was blessed to share a love with Jessica Welborn.  She came into Drew’s life and filled it with happiness and love.  Drew was a wonderful son and brother, always generous and kind-hearted.  He will be missed beyond words.  Drew was a “foodie.”  He enjoyed fine dining in Chicago and also liked perfecting his culinary skills at home.  Drew enjoyed traveling, most recently to Antigua this past January.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many family and friends who have prayed for and supported them through this difficult time.

A Notre Dame Mock Trial student scholarship fund is being established in Drew’s memory.
