Memorial

Robert (Bob) Ernst, 78, of Solon, died Thursday, March 13th at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  Private family services will take place. Burial: Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids. There will be no visitation.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Delores (Fritze); their five children, Sue (Corey) Schoenfelder of Newhall, Julie (Mark) Divoky of Solon, Jim (Kim) Ernst of Newhall, Tonia (Brett) Cox of Iowa City and Bobbi Ernst (Chuck Williams) of North Liberty; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-children.  Bob is also survived by his brother, James (Linn) of Shady Side, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Vincent and Bessie and sister Joyce.

Bob was born September 4, 1935 to Vincent and Bessie Ernst in Cedar Rapids. He married Delores Fritze on September 5, 1959 in Cedar Rapids. Bob worked at Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric for 46 before retiring. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
