Mervin H. Chandler, 60, of Urbana, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.  Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 4 to 8 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  Services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 PM at Cedar Memorial park Chapel of Memories.  Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service there will be a celebration of Merv’s life at Wildhogs in Walford.  

Mervin Henry Chandler was born on November 23, 1953 to Alfred and Marguerite Chandler in Flagstaff, Arizona.  Merv graduated from Iowa Valley Community High School in 1972.  He owned and operated AutoCrafters Body Shop.  Merv enjoyed racing, hunting, reading and family vacations to Florida.  “Swervin Mervin” in the #2 will be remembered as a true legend for his racing career.

He is survived by his significant other of 38 years, Connie Bosier-Chandler; children, Kia (Rob) Alkema; Nathan (BJ) Chandler; Danielle Chandler; Brad (Shawna) Chandler; Dallas, Adam, Destiney, and Dalaney Chandler; sisters, Eula (Bill) Schulz and Donna (Jonathon) Buswell; grandchildren, Tallan, Aubree, and Arjen, soon to be expecting Paisley and baby Chandler on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends; and faithful companion Lil.

Merv was preceded in death by his parents.
