Memorial

Christy L. Austin, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday March 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family from a long battle with cancer.  Services: 10:00 Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Randy Kasch will officiate.  A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. at the chapel on Saturday.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Austin, her son, Wiley D. Austin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her mother, Jean Benn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a brother, Kevin Benn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, brother-in-law, Mike (Kyle) Noyer of Erie Pennsylvania, sister-in-law, Sally Noyer of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, brother-in-law, Eddie (Cindy) Noyer of Erie, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law, Robin (Shep) Logan of Erie , Pennsylvania, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Benn, grandparents, and mother-in-law, Janice Austin.

Christy was born October 3, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jean and Donald Benn.  She married Bob Austin on April 13, 1996 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a beautician for JC Penny and worked for Wal-Mart. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, board member of Hiawatha Kids and delivered pizza for the Special Education Program at Kenwood Grade School. Christy loved cats and collected bears. She enjoyed cross stitching, camping, and bowling. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
