To Douglas family I send my deepest sympathy in the passing of such a great and wonderful man. I knew Douglas through Cottage Grove as I would visit with him when he was able to come to the front desk. He loved to tell stories of his Navy days and they were so interesting.
Know that he was loved by all of us that knew him and he will be missed.
Keep the memories so close and they will help you get through this time of sorrow.

My deepest sympathy to Mr. Holt's large extended family. Douglas Holt was exactly what a husband, father and grandfather should be. But clearly he was much more with his amazing work ethic and loyalty in serving our country. He exemplified what a good citizen can be with his involvement in his community.
Mr. Holt's daughter Theresa has been my best friend for 41 years. We're all thinking of you, your husand Doug and your wonderful close knit family. I'm so glad you all have each other. Your dad has left an amazing legacy in each of you.
Love,

I and Jim and our family ALWAYS enjoyed our visits with Douglas.
We will never forget the many games of Hamilton Rummy that were played in Hamilton, our home, and Cedar Rapids. I shall keep him in my prayers.

I have nothing but great memories of this man growning up as almost part of his own famiy. I always felt welcome in his house and he was always kind to me. He had one of the best minds and memories of anyone I ever known. His passing sadends me, but I know his faith has taken him to a better place. Cousins, I am sorry for your loss. Tom and Family

Holt family, I am so sorry to hear of your a Dad's passing. You all have my sympathy. Washington Ave is not the same place with the Holt and Dorrance family! My Mom was Cottage Grove Place also until her death 3 years ago. I would see your Dad in the dining room looking like a million bucks! Such a nice man! Prayers are with you all.
Take care.

David, and all your brother's and sister's, It was such a pleasure to be a part of your family and to get to know your DAD. I remember seeing him walking down 3rd Ave to church. Then when he became our neighbor at Cottage Grove, we had the pleasure of him walking over to our house occasionally. He invited us to dinner at Cottage Grove also, which was a delight. It was a REAL pleasure to know him for many years and occasions. He was such a kind, and soft-spoken, man! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, but we all know he is in a better place now!
