Alice V. Mosby, 83, of Marion, died Thursday February 20, 2014 in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial: St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. A vigil service will begin at 4:00 p.m.  The Rev. Christopher Podhajasky will officiate.
 
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William D. Mosby, her children; Debra Mosby-Lewis of Marion, Linda Schorg, Katherine (Richard Sr.) Cook and Jean  Schnell all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a brother, John (Barbara) Drahos of Postville, Iowa, 7 grandsons and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers; Edward and August Pospisil, Frank, Stanley and Wesley Drahos, 2 sisters, Molly Mach and Julia Lawrence.

Alice was born July 9, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Amelia (Plotz) Drahos. She married William D. Mosby on January 16, 1965 in Marion, Iowa. Alice was the Lunchroom cook for the Marion School District. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and American Legion Post #298 Auxiliary. Alice loved crocheting, fishing, flowers, the Chicago Cubs, Elvis Presley and a great cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family and time spent with her grandchildren was priceless. She also enjoyed listening to the Leo Greco Variety Time and Alice Tritle playing the Clavinova. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her private nurses, Valerie Kimm, Cathi Thornburg and the staff at the Hospice House, especially Nancy, Rita, Christie, Lisa and Bette.
