Memorial

Robert Shawn Thorson, 45, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 27th. He was born on May 26, 1969 and lived in Cedar Rapids his entire life.

Shawn endured a long battle with mental illness. He enjoyed nature and watching birds. Listening to music was a favorite hobby. Sports were of great interest to him, especially watching the Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He admired Garrison Keillor and listened to him often.

Shawn collected baseball cards and he had a great memory full of statistics and information.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Mary Ann Thorson. Shawn is survived by his sister Becky (Tom) Pardonek and a niece Sydney Pardonek as well as a brother Michael (Teresa) Thorson and a nephew, Taylor Thorson.
A private memorial service with family will be held at a later date.
