Doreen was born October 12, 1945 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Orville and Doris (Ingvalson) Kittelson. She married Larry Nolting on January 12, 1963 in St. john’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Doreen began her education in a one room school house in Highlandville, IA, followed by schools in Spring Grove, MN and then Waukon, IA. Doreen and Larry were longtime residents of Cedar Rapids. Doreen worked many years at Armstrong’s Department Store as a model and sales associate. Her family and friends were foremost in her life and she was happiest during time spent with them. She enjoyed following her grandchildren’s activities including sports and dance recitals and was so proud of them. They lovingly referred to her as Geema, which always made her smile. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, especially boating, and time on the beach. Reading was a pastime she enjoyed, but her favorite was shopping. She not only loved it, but she was good at it. She was ever-grateful to her loving husband, Larry, for the care and support she received from him during times of illness. Doreen was beautiful, inside and out, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial fund has been established.
