Memorial

June Arlene Neal, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Friends may call one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

June was born April 11, 1927, in Norway, Iowa, to Clarence and Caroline Merritt.  She was united in married to Fred Neal on December 31, 1948, at the home of her parents in Norway, Iowa.

Survivors include her daughter, Pat (Dennis) Watkinson of Lone Tree; son Greg (Diane) Neal; son Jeff (Dianna) Neal of Grand Island, Neb.; granddaughter, Kim (Travis) Swenson of Northglenn, Colo.; grandson, Turner Watkinson of Lone Tree; granddaughters Rochelle, Alison, and Samantha Neal; sisters, Myrtle Merritt of Geneseo, New York; Marcella Lemonds of Hastings, Neb.; sister-in-law, Isador Martin of Bettendorf and two great grandchildren of Northglenn, Colo.

June attended Iowa State Teachers College, worked at Farmers Bank in Walford and Blaus Wholesale Foods in Cedar Rapids where she met her husband.  The majority of her life was a homemaker and managing the family farm.  

She enjoyed going to Minnesota and fishing with her husband.  She was an avid stamp collector from an early age.  June made many beautiful intricate Afghans for family and friends and loved to read and watch television.  She was a great mother and enjoyed being with family.
