Cleave Rainwater

Born in Mt. Vernon, IL
Born on Sep 2, 1922
Departed on Nov 12, 2013

Cleave was the #1 fan of Sara and all of her teammates. He watched Sara and her teams in sun, rain and snow!! He was very proud of his kids and grandkids and loved to talk about them. Cleave lives on thru the memories he has created. His warm and friendly smile will be missed.

Cleve was my friend, a brother mason and a fellow Rotarian. He was always a bright light at any gathering. I join you in celebrating his life, and remembering what a difference he made. A good man who served well. William C. Jacobson PDG District 5970 and P.R. Scottish Rite Temple, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

To Bob and family, I was saddened to hear of Cleave's passing. I had the great pleasure of knowing Cleave through Cottage Grove Place and enjoyed having him at the "Bingo " and birthday parties. He so enjoyed playing Bingo and of course winning those "Treats". He was such a gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace and you find comfort in the many great memories you have. If you need anything please let me know .

To the Family of Cleave: I had the privilege of assisting Cleave when he resided in Assisted Living, at Cottage Grove Place. Can't tell you what a joy Cleave was, such an encouragement to me and many others. he had a wonderful sense of humor, kind, and a great smile. He always appreciated everything we did for him. It was a blessing knowing him and he will be missed. May you be comforted at this time. Sincerely, Angela Strutz can/omt

Cleave was very special to us. He was full of life and love for all of his family and friends. It has been a privilege to be part of both. We have very found memories of Cleaver that will always stay with us and we are grateful for. We loved his long letters and teasing him about politics!! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. Love, Rene & Tim Kelley Mission Viejo, CA.

Barbara, Bob, and Brenda and Family. We appreciate the notice and know that it is never easy. But knowing the last few years of his life on earth, and your note about Hospice ring very clear to many of us the challenges that are faced in later life on Earth. Cleve and Bernadine are now together as you stated. Marilyn and I send our deepest condolences to all of the family. Archie & Marilyn

Dear Bob and Family I very sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I'll always remember the days I had talking to him about his work and other subjects. He was always very friendly to me. I will always remember how he would tell me about all the junk mail he would get asking for money. He told me you give to one and the door is busting down for more. God bless you and you are in our prayers.

Brenda and Jim.....I was saddened to read of the death of your Dad. Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Though 91 years, by any measurement, is a life well lived, it seems we are never quite ready for the final good-by. Caring friends, loving family and God's Grace are your tools. May the peace of a compassionate Lord be with you at this difficult time....... Bill Kuennen

Bob & Pat, We were sad to learn of Cleave's passing. Cleave was the consummate gentleman and always genuinely interested to know how we and the kids were doing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Phil & Caren Wasta

To Cleaves family, I do not believe we have ever met but I am Lary Fords wife. Aunt Earline was nice enough to let me know of Cleaves passing.I had only seen your father once or twice in Bluford for Easter. We made that trip there ever year for many years. Lary always spoke highly of your father. I will miss his Christmas letter he included in his card. I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Emma Ford

The Rainwater family, So sad to hear of your dads passing. He is very special to me as he was my very first boss ever and was willing to give this young farm girl from northeast Iowa her first job in the big city of Cedar Rapids at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. He was just like a dad to me and looked out for me like one of his own. He was a pleasure to work with and had a fun personality. I so do remember when your mother passed away and how that changed his life. He was devoted to her. You will always have the memories to cherish as I will also. He truly was a great man. I know he will be missed by many. Sandy Matt

To Cleave's Family: I met Cleave while working in Assisted Living at Cottage Grove. I'll always remember him as a very kind man who always had a welcoming smile. Roxann Fritze OMT/AL
