Leone Constance Barr, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday June 12, 2013 at Meth-Wick Manor. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. She was born on September 30, 1923 to Dora and Glenn Sargeant in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1941 and from Morningside College in 1945.She married Everett E. Barr at the Morningside Presbyterian Church on June 16, 1945. In 1946 they moved to Wesley, Iowa and then to Algona, where they settled in and raised their three sons; Doug, Gary, and Roger. In 1974 they moved to Cedar Rapids. Leone was a very good seamstress. She sewed drapes for Chrischilles Department Store in Algona. Leone loved to bake and cook wonderful goodies for her family. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother for her sons and attended their ball games and activities. In later years, she enjoyed golfing, reading, playing bridge, traveling, and spending winters in Hot Springs Village in Arkansas. Leone was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Dora Sargeant and a nephew, Jeff Sargeant. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband Everett Barr, of Cedar Rapids, her sons; Doug (Ann) Barr of Livonia, Michigan, Gary (Luann) Barr of Wentzville, Missouri and Roger (Donna) Barr of Boone, Iowa. Her grandchildren; Leslie Barr of Orlando, Florida, Melanie (Jonathan) Levey of Manhattan Beach, California, Julie (Brandon) York of Kansas City, Missouri and Ryan (Erinn) Barr of Chicago, Illinois. Her great grandchildren; Kirsten, Jaden and Jett York all of Kansas City, Missouri, a brother, Herb (Marian) Sargeant of Hockessin, Delaware, a niece, Heather Sargeant of Westerly, Rhode Island and a dear friend, Jeane Fontaine of Sunset Hills, Missouri.
