Janelle L Gorsh, 76, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died February 27, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.Survivors include her; children Michael (Heather) Gorsh of Brandon, Iowa; Linda Gorsh, Jodi Cranston, and Kim Haines all of Cedar Rapids; grandson Ross (Sandy) Naughton of Marion; great grandson Brady Naughton; a brother Kirk (Pat) Johnson of Buckeye, AZ; and a niece and nephew Brett and Jenny. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene Gorsh; two sons Scott Lewis Gorsh, and Ronald Gorsh. Janelle L Gorsh was born October 14, 1936 in Belmond, Iowa the daughter of Guy and Jan (Hake) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Eugene Gorsh on January 3, 1956 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2011. Janelle and Eugene started their own business, Gorsh Service Mechanical. Janelle and Gene, through their business, sponsored many sports teams and race cars. Janelle enjoyed taking trips to the casino, traveling and time spent with her family. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital, especially the Critical Cardiac Unit, and St. Luke’s Hospice.The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Luke’s Hospice.
