John H. Dolezal Jr., 73, of 906 2nd Street in Fairfax died Monday July 23, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital after an unexpected illness. Services at 9:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, two sons, John III, Donnie, and a daughter, Julie (Chad) Pence; two brothers, Steve (Joan), Terry (Joyce) and a sister Vicki (Mike) Reeve all of Cedar Rapids.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Marissa and Kierstyn Dolezal, Lauren and Samuel Pape, Dylan Dolezal, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was born on July 18, 1939 in Cedar Rapids the son of John and Sylvia Egan Dolezal. He married Kathleen S. Donnan on July 29, 1961 in Cedar Rapids. John worked at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after more than 34 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, going to garage sales, cooking and was an avid fisherman. John had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling a good joke. His greatest passion was his family and enjoyed the time spent with them especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
