Dear Casteels,
I am so sorry to hear about Josh. I remember him from years gone by. I am praying for you all in the difficult time.

Dear Castell Family,
We remember Josh from WHS and Theatre CR. Our son was a couple years behind him at WHS and also active in the music department. We so enjoyed his performances. We send our thoughts and prayers to you all.

I am also from WHS Class of 1998. I was involved in theater as well. That is how I knew Josh. He was a very kind and generous person, someone who genuinely cared about all others. He was the type of person who you could tell would be influential in the world and his actions certainly show that. I am sorry that he is gone. May God bless your family.

Joshua was a great person to be around during my high school days. A great source of encouragement to me in my walk with Christ. His love was real and genuine and I will never forget that. My heart is heavy that he left us. But it brings joy knowing that His faith has now become sight and that we INSERT INTO guestbook VALUES (who knows Jesus Christ) will see Josh again. Thank you, Josh for you life and legacy!!

Joshua was a Newman Center scholar who presented several seminars on non-violence and Catholicism. As the supervisor of his seminars I was touched by the passion he exhibited for the people he worked with at Abu Ghraib. The world has lost a truly "good" person who did much to spread the Gospel. God bless his family during this time.

Kristi and family, I am so sorry for your loss! I remember seeing Josh in the Amazing Dreamcoat, and knew then that he was a remarkable young man. The world will feel his absence. Please accept my condolences and prayers for you and your family. Love, Diana

Although we share many CR and TCR acquaintances, I never had the honor of meeting Joshua. I do, however, know the pain of losing a bright young loved one. From this experience, I know that Joshua's contributions to this world and his fellow citizens will only continue to spread and grow in significance after his passing. May his friends and family find peace in feeling his presence in their hearts.

I had to find and write about two obituaries for a sociology class and came across Joshua's in my search. His legacy has stuck with me and I felt like I just had to say I wish I had the opportunity to know him and see the work he has done. It is rare to hear of someone with so much passion for God, life and human rights. It is sad to see that passion ended so soon. My heart goes out to Joshua's family. Thank you for sharing his amazing history. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was saddened to hear of Josh's passing. I do know that the ripple affect he started in his life's work will never end as I continue to see the effect he had on people and through them others. He was able to do more in 32 years than some do in a 100 years. A rarer soul i have never met.

My heart and prayers go out to all who loved Joshua today. His life will continue to be a light to this world, and his passion for God, an inspiration for all of us to live am authentic life for Christ.

Some of my favorite memories of Josh include bible quizzing at Maranatha and swinging INSERT INTO guestbook VALUES (or in my case trying to swing) into piles of leaves in the back yard. I recently sent him a letter, and hope that he received it. He has a special place in my heart and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family even though I cannot be there in person to honor his memory.

The Casteel Family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Death is not easy at any age, but so hard to make sense when it's someone is so young.

I know Josh from WHS. We were in choral groups together, and my senior year INSERT INTO guestbook VALUES (his sophomore year) we began to become closer friends. He joined our group prom and after college we still kept in touch. I will always remember his smile, tender soul and amazing talent.
I hope in the days, months and years to come, you all find peace and comfort knowing how much he was loved by thousands all over the world.
With sympathy,
April Brown

I had classes with Joshua at the Divinity School. I'll always remember his keen eye for detail and big heart.
