Harvey Niles Jr., 86, of 1500 Red Fox Way in Marion died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Manor Care after a short illness. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Ozburn of Marion; a son, John of Center Point and a brother, Robert T. (Margaret) Niles of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kimberly Dooley, Kari Blahnik, Kelsey and Lindsey Niles, and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Megan Dooley. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Bruna, Patricia Harris, and a daughter-in-law Michelle Niles.
Harvey was born on June 2, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harvey and Anne Dolezal Niles Sr. He married Jean H. Hinrichs on May 10, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2006. Harvey was a foreman at LeFebure and retired from there after more than 43 years of service.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Coralville Ski Club and the VFW, as well as proudly serving in the Navy during WWII. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, boating and especially the time spent with his beloved family and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Harvey's name. The family would like to express their appreciation to Manor Care for the love and care given to Harvey.
