Memorial
Arlene A. Forrest, 86, of 2115 First Ave SE, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a stroke. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and at the chapel after 10 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years James, three daughters Susan Forrest of Prairie Village, Kansas, Julie (Dr. Kurt) Muehlebach of Kansas City, Missouri, and Dianne (Dr. Paul) Ruggle of Newton, Iowa, a sister Evelyn Greenwood of Vinton, two brothers Donald (Helen) Burmeister of Vinton, and Keith (Betty) Burmeister of Dysart, and five grandchildren, Adam and Brian Ruggle, and Forrest, Mary Claire, and Lily Muehlebach. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother in law Ray Greenwood.
Arlene was born April 21, 1923 in Benton County to Henry and Minnie Selk Burmeister. She married James B. Forrest Jr. on March 19, 1951 in New Hampton, Iowa. She had been employed as an office manager for Jim Forrest Insurance Company, and as an Inspector at Collins Radio. She was a member of the ladies golf league of Cedar Rapids. Besides golf, she was a Campfire Girls Leader. She enjoyed spending time in Florida, the outdoors, and spending time with her family.
