Russell Knapp

Born in Kenwood, IA
Born on Sep 21, 1908
Departed on Sep 10, 2007

Russ was a great supporter and a great friend to both myself and the Coe College TENNIS teams from the moment I arrived as a new, and young coach in 1989. His monetary support yes,but more importantly the care and attention he gave to the young men & women he came across in the Tennis Center went a long way towards creating the environment of success that exists to this day for the players on the Coe College TENNIS teams.

I met Russell through Methwick. He always had such a positive attitude and would say he was full of vim, vigor and vitality when you asked how he was doing. I was quite impressed to hear that out of a 98 yr. old man. I always enjoyed talking to him. My sympathy goes out to you and I will miss talking to him. May the many good memories of him bring you comfort

Deepest sympathy to Louise and the Knapp Family.Love and appreciation for all of your efforts to make this world a better place. Our prayers are with you all.

What a wonderful life Russell did lead! He married a lovely lady, had a terrific family, made friends all over the world and founded a company many people worked for proudly. As Ella sang, "Who could ask for anything more?"

He was a delightful man; always chipper and smiling mischievously in the halls at SCI. I felt like my grandfather was always there.

My deepest sympathies to you all.

Louise and Family,
I want to express my sincere sympathy in your loss. Russell was a great man and always offered advice and encouragement. He will be missed.

Only the finest momeries and prayers will be said on Russells behalf. I only meet Russell a few times in passing at Camp Wapsie, but the love he had for this special place is evident to his family and to all those that visit there. I also pray that his wonderful family celebrates his life in their memories and finds peace knowing he was a great man to this community. May the love and strength he passed on to others in his life comfort you all in this difficult time.

LOUISE & FAMILY
Russell was the most up beat person I ever knew. He was the best boss I ever had and I learned a lot from him. The first SCI Christmas party at his house was fun. He invited me to play table tennis. Did he ever beat me even through he was 30 years older. I will always remmeber all the Christmas parties and birthday parties we had at SCI. What fun we had and he will be missed by all of us.

To Aunt Louise and Family: I'm saddened by Uncle Russ's passing and wished I could be there. I will miss him dearly. I will remember all the memories of him from the visits to Cedar Rapids and seeing them here in Council Bluffs with Mom Pat and Virginia. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Bless Kim and family

Our sympathy to the Knapp Family. We truly enjoyed the Knapp/McDermott gatherings which gave us the wonderful span of generations that many children do not experience. There was always love and joy shared at these occasions. Thank you for sharing Russell with the McDermott family.

Dear Louise and Family:

We were on vacation and unable to attend Russ' memorial service. However, please know how much we will miss him and his unfailing optimism. From the friendship we forged through our mutual interests in Coe College and the Jaycees, we were inspired by his unceasing good humor and "can do" spirit. We are much better having known Russ and offer you our very sincere condolences.

Louise and family,
My prayers and love are with you. I will always remember Russ talking to the campers at Wapsie and all of us singing KyYiKiYikus as loud as we could for him. His generosity and sharing his early camping experiences will live forever in our hearts. Hugs, Mary
