Memorial

Dennis L. Oldorf: 63, 2339 Linden Drive SE, died Monday evening at his home following a long battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 12 at First Lutheran Church with Gary Connors-Boe of Four Oaks of Iowa officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests your presence at a luncheon in Dennis' honor at the Cedar Rapids Country Club immediately following the interment. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and at the church after 9:00 a.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mercy, 701 10th Street SE, Cedar Rapids Iowa 52403.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, Forbes Oldorf, and his daughter, Suzy DeWolf, and husband, Chris, all of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Jean Oldorf, of Clarence, Iowa; a sister, Judy Rohwedder, and husband, Tom, of Wyoming, Iowa; and his four grandchildren, Drew Oldorf, Riley DeWolf, Lindsay DeWolf and Weston DeWolf, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Oldorf, in 1994.
Dennis was born August 8, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Melvin and Jean Vandeberg Oldorf. He married Donna L. Becker on June 8, 1963 in Stanwood, Iowa. Dennis earned his Bachelor degree in Marketing and later his M.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa. He also earned a Certified Financial Analyst designation. Dennis had worked for Merchants National Bank, Collins Radio, Harris Bank and American National Bank both of Chicago. He also owned ABC Publishing Company, Doran and Ward Printing Company and, most notably, Lil' Drug Store Products. Dennis was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids and Elmcrest Country Clubs, I-Club and Kinnick Society, Blue Ribbon Investment Club, Alpha Kappa Psi and was a Mount Mercy College Board of Trustee Emeritus member.
Dennis was an active man who enjoyed golf, University of Iowa athletics, investment and farm management. Most important, "PaPa" dearly loved and enjoyed his four wonderful grandchildren.
Dennis wished to convey his love and appreciation to his wife, Donna, for all her love, care and support since they first met in October of 1958.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Hospice of Mercy for the loving care given to Dennis.
