Ward M. Vanderpool, of 374 Parkland Dr. SE. and Toronto, Canada died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Sat at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Entombment at the Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivor include five nieces, Carol Roseberg of Roscoe, Ill., Ann Hunter of Casper, WY., Wendy Haug of Kimball, NE., Amy Westphal of Scottsbluff, NE., Beth Ellen Hrycaj of Blue Island, Ill., Tami Peterson of Maysville, VA. and Leslie Haug of Laramie, WY., four nephews, John Kendall of Vancouver, WA., Virgil Kendall of Belleview, WA., Stephen and Lee Griswold both of Yorba Linda, CA.
Mr. Vanderpool was born in Oakland, MO., the son of Oscar and Clara McGuire Vanderpool. He received his masters in electrical engineering from Tulane University. He married Lee Kendall on July 7, 1939 in Omaha, NE. She died in 1999. Mr. Vanderpool was the vice president in charge of sales at Van Lang Brokerage in Los Angeles from 1934 to 1938 and was the manager of the Agricultural Division of the Dayton Rubber Co. in Chicago from 1939 to 1948. Most recently Mr. Vanderpool was the general manager of Vee Mac Co. in Rockford, Ill., the president and director of Zipout Inc. in Rockford, Ill.; Wife Savers Products Inc.; Chairman of the Board of Zipout International; Kenyan Inc.; Shevan Corporation; Atlas International Corp.; president of Global Enterprises Ltd., Global Associates Ltd., Chairman of the Board of Directors of American Atlas Corp.; Atlas Chemical Corp.; Merzat Industries Ltd.; trustee of Ice Crafter Trust; Board of Directors of Atlas Chemical International Ltd.; Kenlee International Ltd. And Shrimp Tool International Ltd. Mr. Vanderpool was a member of Toronto board of Trade, Chairman of the Board of Directors of American Atlas Corp., American Packaging Corp.; he was also a member of the advisory board of the National Security Council, the Advisory Committee of the Heritage Foundation; the Republican National Committee; Presidential Task Force; Congressional Advisory Committee; honorary member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame; the National at large Director of Rock River Marketing Past President; sales executives, Sales and Marketing Executives International; Director of American Management Association; Rockford Engineering Society, American Institute Management; American Ordnance Association, International Platform Association; the Heritage Foundation, Jesters Club, IAA Swim Club, Elmcrest Counry Club, Pyramid Club, Dolphin Club, Marlin Club, University Club, Athletic Club, Oxford Club, Masons Consistory, Shriner, Elks Club, Who's who in the Midwest, the World and Finance in Industry.
Ward was as very special person and had a great sense of humor. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and well be greatly missed.
