Colene Rae Armbrecht, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke’s Hospital on Monday, February 6, 2012. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Randy Nord. Interment: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, State Center by Rev. David Klinge with fellowship to follow at St. John's Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny; children, Diane (Richard) Jamrok of Cedar Rapids, Michael Armbrecht of Phoenix, AZ, Jane (Harry) Butler of Shawnee, KS, and David Armbrecht of Merriam, KS; a brother, Everette “Buss” (Thelma) Bowman of Lawrence, KS; a sister, Joyce (Max) Buck of Marshalltown; four grandchildren, Quinn and Madeline Jamrok and Josephine and Isabelle Butler; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bowman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Colene was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry.

Colene was born May 14, 1934 in State Center, Iowa to Raymond and Elizabeth Meyers Bowman. She graduated from State Center High School in 1951 and married Kenneth Armbrecht on August 13, 1961. Colene was a bank teller at Central State Bank in State Center for over 47 years, retiring in 2002.

Colene and Kenny moved to Cedar Rapids in August, 2009. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and volunteered for Lutherans For Life. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and attend their activities. Colene will be remembered for her contagious smile.
