Memorial

Violet I. Kinney, 88, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with Jesus on Friday, January 20, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, John E. (Donna) Kinney of Cedar Rapids and Judy (Andrew) Braun of WI; stepdaughter, LaVon (Eugene) Divoky of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, and sister, Margaret.

Violet was born August 13, 1923 in Grand Mound to John and Olive Lucht. She married Edward Kinney on March 3, 1944 in Clarence. He died in 1976. She was always available for her children and grandchildren. Violet had an outgoing personality, prettiest smile and blue eyes. She was full of “moxie” and never complained.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice for the wonderful care given Violet.
