Judith Ellis Ong, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Memorial Service: 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ong Sr.; C.J. Ong Jr. (Dr. Clar M. Baldus) of Cedar Rapids, David S. Ong of Eldridge, IA, Rachel E. Ong (Dr. Robert Behrens) of West Des Moines; Grandchildren, Joshua Ong of Eldridge, IA and Andrew and Anna Behrens of West Des Moines; Cousin, Robert Livesey of Massachusetts; Niece, Elizabeth McElroy; longtime friend, Barbara Basia Breita, both of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Walter James.

Judith was born December 21, 1934 at Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, the daughter of David J. and Mary (Cunliffe) Ellis. She graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, New Jersey and attended Montclair State Teachers College in New Jersey. On January 26, 1957 she married Charles Ong in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Judy enjoyed reading, cooking, family and hot air ballooning. Judy was editor of the Iowa Balloonists Association newsletter for 15 years and was a lifetime member of the Iowa Balloonists Association. She also received several awards for her newsletter.
