Sue, and everyone, there are just not enough words. I'm just so glad I was able to come out to Laughlin with you guys when you got married. From the Limo that Joe just had to have us all in, to and from the airport, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad he made that choice. I raise my beer to the week we spent out there, and it just being us guys there when you said your vows, to the boat ride after, all the casinos, and the intimate little dinner we had, just you and Joe, Larry, Cathy and me at The Outback to celebrate you two ......loved it!!! I'm so glad you let me be a part of that. To the coming back from 95 degree weather all week and when we got off the plane it was 16 degrees, and even had a dusting of snow the next day. Only in Iowa! Joe rocks, and still does. That will be my best memory of him, thank you, thank you, for letting me share it with you!!!!!!!! Love ya, Bonnie Marks ps. and to all the fish frys Larry had also!!!

MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO JOE'S FAMILY. I LIVED IN FRANKVILLE, IA AT THE TIME JOE AND JERRY WERE THERE. WE HAD A LOT OF FUN AND I REALLY ENJOYED THE 57 CHEVY'S THAT THEY WOULD CRUISE IN. JOE HAD THE PRETTY BLUE ONE AND JERRY HAD THE SUPER RED ONE. JOE WAS A SPECIAL PERSON AND MY CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO YOU ALL.

Lisa, Missy and Joe....I'm so terribly sad to hear about your Dad. I feel bad that I am unable to attend any services but I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Hang on to those fond happy memories of him and tuck them in your heart for always. You have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Solem family and friends, I just received news of Joe's passing--we were classmates at PHS in Postville, IA. I remember Joe as the "quiet guy with the sly smile and the 'oh, so cool and smooth hairstyle'" ... and from his photo in this memorial, I see that he never lost any of those! Please know that there are those who "knew him when" who are now thinking of you and hoping that sharing memories of his life will bring you peace as you say goodbye to Joe in this life. God Bless, Connie Tyler PHS Class of '66

Joe and Sue, You were some of the best neighbors that a guy could have. My biggest regret is that we didn't chat more, but you always had a cheerful wave from the garage! I'm going to miss Joe very much... You are in our thoughts Sue, and we are still just right next door if you need anything....

My sincere sympathy goes out to your family. My last memory of Joe was walking up with him on our class of '66 graduation day. I don't think that I ever saw him after that. May God be with you at this sad and difficult time. Nancy Steva Wachter

In Joe's Memory...As a fellow Frankvillian(!) I have wonderful memories of Joe from grade school in Frankville thru high school. Sounds like Joe's kindness has touched many people and he will always have a special place in my heart as well. I pray God will comfort you during this time of his loss.

I am so sorry I couldn't make it back home in time for the funeral, but am so thankful for the time spent with him in July. Sue, I am so saddened by the fact that you were just beginning to have your "retired" life together and that was cut so short. Lisa, Missy and Joey; I know what it feels like to lose a parent but not both in such a short amount of time. I will pray for all of you and just know that time really does make it a little better. Even though we lived so far from each other most of our adult lives I still loved him very much, and will miss my big brother.

Frank and I graduated from Postville with Joe in 1966.I sat by him in English our Sr. year and got to know him and his wry sense of humor! Joe had the sexy voice and cool hair cut. I never saw him after high school. The class of '66 will be donating money to the "Postville Dollars for Scholars" in Joe's name. We honor our classmate and know that for most of us, Joe will always be 18. In sympathy, Mary Ball Olson
