Memorial
Joseph W. Solem, 62, of 1613 30th St. Ct. NW. died Sunday August 29, 2010 at his home after a short illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Sue, two daughters, Lisa (Dennis) Turkington and Melisa (Dain) Brunscheen all of Cedar Rapids; one son, Joseph of Dubuque; his mother, Rose Bridgewater of Kentucky; three step-sons, Scott (Blythe) Meister, Terry (Nikki) Meister and Shannon (Dooley) Meister and a step-Daughter, Darcy (Jeff) Karr all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Sandra Davis and Melody Amole and two brothers, Jerry and Danny. He was preceded in death by his father and former wife, Linda.
Joe was born on June 25, 1948 in Decorah, the son of Leonard and Rose Hines Solem. He married Susan Meister on November 18, 2008 in Laughlin, Nevada. Joe worked at Farmstead for over 25 years and later worked in maintenance at the Linn Mar School District of 10 years. He was a member of the Eagles Club. Joe enjoyed fishing, golf, yard work, going to the casino and especially the time he spent with his many friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
