Wilma Marie Lynch, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A vigil service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Wilma is survived by her children, Dennis (Nancy) Birkicht of Keller, TX, Debra (Don) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids, James Lynch of Walker, and Robert (Cynthia) Lynch of Robins, and seven grandchildren, Melissa, Nicole, David, Austin, Dalton, Ryan and Grant. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Birkicht and Richard Lynch; and two brothers, Rueben and Leonard Mracek.
Wilma was born April 17, 1925 in Protivin, Iowa, to William and Rose Mracek. She married Donald Birkicht in Protivin. He died in 1963. She married Richard Lynch in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1999. She worked at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 50 Year member VFW Auxiliary, the National Czech and Slovak Museum, and St. Patrick’s Church.
