Karl “Dick” Cross, 73, of 3108 Outlook Drive, SW, Cedar Rapids, died March 13, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Pastor Darren Whiting of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate.

Surviving are his wife Joan; children Kenneth “Randy” Cross of Cedar Rapids, and Michael Cross and wife Shelly of Scottsdale, AZ; step daughter Lisa Moeller (Jeff) of Chicago; grandchildren Micaela and Marli; step grandchildren Luke and Tori; siblings Bob Cross (Judy) of Cedar Rapids, Shirley Wiggins of Cedar Rapids, and Serena Crowe of Marion; sisters-in-law Sandy Cross and Joan Cross; his cat Tiger; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Jim and Larry Cross, and Marilyn Warner; and Hattie Cross.

Dick was born May 1, 1936 in Vinton the son of George Elward and Pauline Cross. He worked for IWI Motors and Lanter Courier service. He also had worked many years in the grocery industry. He married Donna Chittick on November 15, 1959, they were later divorced. He married Joan O’Brien Wray on October 15, 1992 in Kahoka, MO. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In earlier years he enjoyed motorcycles, riding dirt bikes, and snowmobiling. More recently, he enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, and frequenting the casino with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice in Dick’s honor.
