Survivors include his wife, Anna; children, Larry (Jeanna) Sager, Carol (Larry) Klotzbach and Janet Sager, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother, William.

Don was born June 17, 1924 in Cedar Rapids to Edward and Carrie Sager. He married Anna Long there on September 1, 1945. He worked for Century Engineering, retiring after 38 years. Don was an Army veteran of WWII, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

Don enjoyed working with his hands on numerous types of small engines. He was an avid license plate collector spending much of his time looking for another plate to fill a certain part of his collection. He also loved to spend a few days a month trying his luck at the casinos.

His love for his children and grandchildren was always present in his gentle ways. He had a caring way for anyone he spoke with and enjoyed talking to the neighborhood children who knew they were always welcome at his doorstep.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the VFW Post #788.
