Memorial

Aldene L. Emerson, 85, of the Methwick Community, formerly of Madison, WI, died at St. Luke’s Hospital on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from complications caused from a fall while visiting her daughter in Florida. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Paul Wilcox of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call after 2:30 PM on Friday at the Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow the services at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are her daughter Julie Emerson of Plantation, FL; grandson Justin of Plantation, FL; granddaughter Marilynn and great grandson Jacob of Pompano Beach, FL; and a sister Mildred Corbett of Cedar Rapids; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; and sisters Arlene, Bernice, and Alice.

Aldene was born April 26, 1924 in Milford, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Dora Wray. She graduated from high school in Harlan, Iowa. She married Richard Emerson on February 17, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2005. They were active at Bethany Methodist Church and were active rock hounds during their time in Madison. She served on several committees at Deer Ridge and was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was also a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
