Memorial

Margaret E. Bilsland Ritchie, 93, of Irving Point died Saturday February 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include 5 sons, Clarence (Mary) Bilsland of Shellsburg, Terry (Doris) Bilsland, David (Rita) Bilsland, John (Laural) Bilsland, Richard (Billie) Bilsland; two daughters, Karen (Claude “Jim”) Hayes and Linda Goebel all of Cedar Rapids; one step-son, Thomas (Florie) Ritchie, six stepdaughters, Penny Spencer, Melody (Jerry) Turner and Janie (Bill) Jordan all of Cedar Rapids, Jeanie (Mike) Anderson of Marion, Robin (Frank) Poggenpohl of North Liberty and Jennifer (Chuck) Vinto of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, Betty (Bud) Harmon of Tucson, Arizona and a step- daughter-in-law, Patricia Bilsland. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 32 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, a step-son, William Bilsland and two great grandchildren.

Margaret was born on February 17, 1916 in North Liberty, the daughter of Clarence and Clara Green Vaughn. She married Jack W. Ritchie on May 20, 1967 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1994. Margaret worked at Kirkwood Community College as the manager of food service and retired from there after several years of service. She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, Women of the Moose and the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and time spent with her family.

Memorial donations may be given to Olivet Presbyterian Church or to the American Heart Association in Margaret’s name.
