Biff sent birthday cards with sentiments underlined for emphasis; he generously treated us to a family dinner out at Christmas;he affectionatly called his sister "Lolly";he fondly called his big brother "Big Fella" or "Dukie Dear";he loved to use expressions like Shucky Dern and Anyhoo and Mornin', Glory in that deep bass voice. Grieving the loss of "Uncle Biff." Mary Birgerson (sister-in-law)

I'm not even sure how my Uncle got the name Biff. But, anytime I spoke about my Uncle Biff it made me smile just to say his name. It's kind of like Duke the name his big brother (my Dad) had. They were both great guys with cool names and so easy to love. Because of the distance we lived apart I did not get to spend lots of time with my Uncle Biff. But, I remember the time well that I did get to spend with him. He was a very handsome man, with a big smile, a very distinct deeep voice, and he loved his family. He always had something to say about his Jenn. His goofy sayings like "Shuckey Dern" always made me laugh. I will miss my Uncle Biff and I wish I could have spent more time with him. To have lost my Uncle Biff and his big brother Duke (my Dad) within a year and a half is hard but it is God's plan. It is not easy to accept, and never fully understood. To my Aunt Alda, Uncle Kent, Grandma B, and to my cousins I am grieving with you and pray for you often.

I am so sorry about the loss of Uncle Biff (I don't know how he got that name, but that is what my dad, aunt June and others on this side of the family called him.) I will remember the family pictures of him growing up with my dad and aunt June, but most of all the laughter of all the family stories that were shared over the years (i.e., of the cousins growing up). I could see the joy and happiness he had in spending time with his family the times I saw him. I wish I had seen him more often, but am thankful he came to my wedding and we had a "Birgerson" family table. I will always remember the laughter we shared (a good sense of humor) and that he 'out danced' me at my own wedding! My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Love, Deb Hammitt (daughter to Don & Sandra Birgerson)

Uncle Biff was my favorite uncle, and he is woven into all my childhood memories of summer. He was the uncle who took us swimming in Hennepin even when he could have been watching the game; he let us drive the riding mower down Front Street and didn't get mad when I drove up on the curb! I miss him rooting for the Cubs out loud as he watched them on WGN. I miss his rich bass voice and his wry sense of humor. I miss him. He always had a kind word for everyone, and Jen and her boys were the apple of his eye. I know you miss him deeply. Our prayers are with you and for you as you mourn the loss of your dad and grandpa.

Biff and I were platoon mates at Quantico for 21 weeks in 1966. He was a good man and a good Marine. I am proud to have served with him.

Biff and I attended Basic School together in 1966 and were in the same platoon. His voice stood out, even in a platoon of 48 Marines so I am glad to read that he continued to use it well in chorus and choir. He was a very proud and disciplined Marine and I am very sorry to hear that he has passed away.

I too served with Biff in Quantico in 1966 and have memories of a strong, positive Marine who was ready to take on the world. Sounds like he did. My condolences to the family.
