Private services and inurnment for Harold Lohmann, 100, of Davenport, will be held in Cedar Rapids. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mr. Lohmann died peacefully Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the Davenport Lutheran Home, with his children by his side.
Harold Lohmann was born Jan. 3, 1910, in Wheatland. He married Beulah Carman on March 13, 1937, in Bartlesville, Okla. She died in 1999.
Mr. Lohmann was employed at Rodman Lab, Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1971.
He served 39 years in the U.S. Army. He traveled to Scotland, North Africa, England, Italy, Spain and Vietnam, before retiring as lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Lohmann was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wheatland, and the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Shrine.
Mr. Lohmann and his wife enjoyed traveling, sports, reading, and spending time with family.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
Survivors include his children, Harold “Red” (Jeanne), San Antonio, Texas, David (Jacque) Davenport, and Mary (Lynn) Ketelsen, Owatonna, Minn.; grandchildren, Wade, Chad and Jessica Lohmann, Lorrie (Shawn) Franklin, Terri (Jeff) Templin, and Matt (Krista), Sarah and LeAnn Ketelsen; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce.
