Memorial

Charles A. Blaha, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Mercy Hallmar. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Daniel Clark-Bridges of Hope Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and also at the chapel after 9:30 AM on Thursday.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 57 years Dorothy, two sons Dennis and wife Linda, and Dale and wife Teri all of Cedar Rapids, and four grandchildren, Darren and wife Kristin of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Andrea, Sean, and Sarah Blaha all of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edwin and a sister Helen Schminke.

Charles was born February 13, 1922 in Irving, Iowa, to Charles and Vlasta Kucera Blaha. He served with the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He married Dorothy E. Christensen on July 6, 1952 in Cedar Rapids. He is a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hanford American Legion Post No 5, and the Model A Club. He enjoyed fishing and received his pilot’s license at Hunters Airport.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
