Gary Anderson Murray, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died January 12, 2010 in his home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Surviving are his children Sheryl Murray (Michael Winslow) of Yarmouth, Teresa Murray of Cedar Rapids, Gary A. Murray and wife Dawn of Marion, and Jolene “Jim Jim” Graham of Cedar Rapids; his siblings Marilyn Walztoni and husband Frank, William Murray, and Ann Asquith all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Dean Ortberg, Eric Bragg, Michael Murray, Justin Cinkan, Aaliyah Murray, Elainah Murray, and Jack Murray; great grandchild Kaiden Murray; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas Murray, his sister Patricia Alene Marsceau, grand sons Eric William Murray and Joseph Dean Stewart, and step father Henry Luetjens.

Gary Anderson Murray was born October 6, 1939 in Iowa City the son of Lyle B. and Irene (Seering) Murray. He was united in marriage to Jolene Kness on July 17, 1959, they were later divorced. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, and retired from the United States Naval Reserve. He retired from Rockwell following several years of service in printing. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, watching Wheel of Fortune, and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed time spent with all his friends at the Starlite Room. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial fund has been established in Gary’s honor.
