I met George when I was a Freshman in College. I was interning at IBM in Cedar Rapids and had the pleasure of working with George for just one summer but he left a lasting impression on me. He was so helpful and kind to this "kid" and really taught me a great deal. Even though, looking back on it now, my constant questions had to have been annoying. My condolences to his family, he was truly a great man.

Our sincere condolences to the family. Before moving to Jacksonville and being reunited with Lori, we lived in Cedar Rapids. My first computer job was with a small firm that moved right next door to the IBM office. The owners used to joke that they had the best service in town. All they had to do was raise the window and yell "George!" and they would have instant service from their long-time friend and colleague. Joking aside, he was always there when we needed him, which I suspect was true for anyone who knew him.

Dorothy and family. I can't tell you how sad we were to hear of George's passing. He was a special person who touched so many lives. He was great to work with at IBM, and holiday parades just won't seem the same without seeing George marching down the street carrying an American flag! He will be missed by us and by all who knew him. God bless you all.

Dear Dorothy and Family, I am one of Ed & Millie Klinkhammer's daughters. Please know of our deepest sympathy and prayers to you at the loss of your husband/father. Dutch was always a part of our family! Our Dad, and our Uncle Gerald, shared so many wonderful stories of humor and wisdom they shared with Dutch over the years. It was always a blessing to be in the presence of Dutch! I will forever remember his welcoming arms when he first met our twin sons! He shared his sincere care, splendid humor, and joy for life. He remains present through the many gifts God blessed him with, and the loving memories we share. He will be greatly missed. He is alive in God's unending love! May you be blessed with our Lord's Strength and Peace at this most tender time. My Love & Prayers, Jean Huebner, with my Husband Don, and our Twin Sons: Jon & James.

Dear Dorothy & Family; when John Mistretta called us in AZ to tell us that George had past away, I was shocked. The last time I saw George at the Wednesday breakfast, I asked him how he was doing & he said he was feeling ok. He said he was still on chemo, but was not having pain. George never was one to burden his friends with his problems. George was a good friend, a friend you could count on. If you had a problem you could go to him & he would listen to you. If he agreed with you he would help you fix it. If he thought you were wrong he would tell you why & help you fix it if he could. George was normally positive & enthusiastic, but he could get grumpy too. We will always have good memories about our times in Dubuque. When we got together it was a house full. We will never forget the old Ford station wagon & our trip to the CR Christmas party for the kids. What a trip! Our thoughts are with you & you will be in our prayers.
