Memorial

Michael J. Kovacik 97, a resident of Living Center East, died there Saturday. Services will be at 11 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial with Military Honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday at the Chapel. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sisters, Ann Barta and Sue Roth both of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Paul, and a sister Midge Gearhart.

Michael was born September 21, 1912 in Argo, Illinois to Joseph and Anna Kovacik. He married Angela M. Barta on January 30, 1946 at Solon, Iowa. She died in 2007. He was a WW II US Army Veteran. He worked in the administrative office at Wilsons foods for many years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Hanford American Legion Post No 5. He enjoyed bowling, and traveling in Europe and North America.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
