Gene, you were a big part of our family. You even contributed Christmas presents for all of my grandma's grandchildren. Thank you. You will be missed. Go Hawks!

We will miss you uncle Gene at all the family gatherings. It was such a joy to watch you at the family reunion, with all the little ones running amok. You always loved to watch them having fun. We will miss your stories too. Gods speed and Goooooooooo Hawkeyes!!!

Gene, When we think of you, we will have so many "Golden" memories. You were in our lives for as long as I can remember. You were there well before our wedding day and you were there the day we brought Rachel and Zachary home from the hospital as newborns. We have shared countless family celebrations, holidays, and of course 25 glorious years of Golden Hawk Golf Tourney memories. We wish you sunny days and a daily tee time in heaven. Hit 'em long and straight! Love, Amy, Greg, Rachel, and Zach

Eugene R. Braden THE Golden Hawk You were instrumental in several decades of fun around the Hanson house. Highlights include "sitting in the bush" during card games, philosophical discussions with NeNe, dodging airborne mixed drinks as a result of sitting in the bush, crashing the party at Ernie's after Stewy blew our cover (cripes), spotting random basketball players who most assuredly carried knives, dodging NeNe as a result of philosophical discussions, boat rides on the Cedar you hadn't planned on taking (The Hawk Gets Chicks in '96), not to mention years of Golden Hawk speeches and photo shoots too numerous to detail in this limited arena. You made fashion statements with knee-high gold socks, low slung rapper britches, Klanwear and the fabulously-popular chain drive wallet. It seems like only yesterday you were yelling, "Don't let him in Barney!!" as well as high stepping away from a pack of affectionate dogs while unknowingly carrying a stategically placed piece of salami in your back pocket. You made a Kinnick-like run, Hawk. Thanks for including us in the fun. In closing, when all is said and done, only one Golden Hawkism seems appropriate: "Table's Laid!!!" Go Hawks

Gene, I'm sure you're up there still picking the stocks and wondering about the "Helicopter." Hawkeye Nation lost their best fan and the Republican party lost a Great American. Godspeed my friend. Greg Erceg Solon, IA

Uncle Gene will always hold a special place in our hearts. His eyes lit up when talking to you, he was genuinely interested in what we'd been up to and was always ready to share his love for his Hawks. I'm so happy to have been able to spend a little extra time with him over the past couple of years and this past summer was a special one. Our lives are richer for having been a part of yours.

So long Hawk. Thanks for taking time to include us in your life. I guess you are "Air Braden" forever now. Keep an eye on us. We hope you find your driver, too after all these years! Kelly Fitzgerald
