Norma J. Kirkley

Tom, sending you our condolences. You were blessed with a loving and hard-working mother. She was a wonderful and thoughtful person that cared about others and will never be forgotten.

Norma was a wonderful, caring person. I served under her when she was commander of Hanford Post 5. Once she left, it wasn't the same. I didn't stay much longer. I don't get the weekly newspaper and only found out about her death this morning by another vet. (I work at the Vet Center) My apologises for not making the visitation nor the funeral. I will miss seeing her and going out for coffee. She will definately be missed.

Tom/Carolyn-- I was in New Mexico when your mother passed and I am sorry I missed the visitation/furneral. I had seen your mom last year (2008) when the L/m transportation department was called in to evacuate the Winslow House Care Center because of Indian Creek rising so fast...I was so surprised when we loaded her onto my bus!!!! She looked at me and said "Jeri" and I said yes, I am!!!! We talked (albeit) shortly as I was very busy, but I did want you to know I really enjoyed seeing her once again....sorry she had to be in the state she was, but always "Norma", she "stayed the course" and seemed to be dealing with her disease. My mom is still alive (93) and she doesn't know me most of the time and can't talk...dementia is the cause, but she still smiles a lot and is otherwise in good health for her age....At least I have that going for me...ha! Again, kids---sorry for your loss and I am still driving in the a.m. and happen to go by the Home place every morning, so I have been wondering about you... as ever, Jeri Thomas
