Memorial

Dorothy Irene Anderson, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha following a long illness. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M on Friday October 2 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Gary Hoyt and Reverend Leroy Collins will be presiding over the service. A reception will be held after the service at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.

Dorothy Anderson was born April 23, 1921, in Marion, IA to Oliver and Clara Tilton. Dorothy was united in marriage to Paul Anderson on April 23, 1941 in Marion, IA.

Dorothy especially loved her grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed animals especially dogs. She also loved flowers, bird watching, reading books, cooking, family vacations, playing cards, and bingo. Dorothy also enjoyed being a member of United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Paul Anderson, of Cedar Rapids, Daughter Susan (Kerry) Hansen, of Cedar Rapids, Daughter Judy (Bruce) Norden, of Bettendorf, Sister Fern Struchen, of Marion, Brother Devere Fehr, of San Diego CA, and four grandchildren Alissa, Tara, Austin, and Erin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and by three newborn children.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend many thanks to all doctors, nurses, friends, family, and the members of St. Mark’s Methodist Church who gave her support and showed her kindness throughout her illness.
