Memorial

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his home, with his wife Betty at his side.

A visitation will be held in memory of Lee on Wednesday September 30 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday October 1 at New Covenant Bible Church at 1800 46th Street NE Cedar Rapids IA at 2:00 P.M with Pastor James Wartian officiating with military rites at the conclusion of the service.

Lee was born September 9th 1922 to Ralph and Mary Wells in Cedar Rapids. Lee served in World War 2 and the Korean War as an Air Force Pilot. Lee worked in the Cedar Rapids area for many years as a home builder (Well Built Homes) and was a Senior Vice President at Life Investors until retirement. Lee continued working after retirement in land development.

Lee had a large and caring heart, with his family and others. He was a child advocate for the CASA program. Lee enjoyed travel with Betty, his family, friends, and his dog Bo. Lee was a member of Quiet Birdmen Pilot Association and American Legion.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cliff, his sister Iola, and his son Scott Wells.

Lee is survived by his wife Betty of 43 years, his daughter Susan Pierson (Rollie), Grandchildren, Sabrina Whitlock, Dustin Pierson, and great grandson Nolan Whitlock, Son, Al Wells, and grandchildren Morgan Wells and Anna Wells, Son, Jeff (Sue) Meyer and grandchildren Drew Meyer and Sydney Meyer, Daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Maxwell and grandchildren Colbi Maxwell, Abby Maxwell, and Parker Maxwell, Son John Wells, and many nieces and nephews.
