Steven John (Buck) Meier, beloved son of Robert and Doreen Meier and a loving brother to Robert, Glenn, Charles, Jonathan, David and Matthew passed away unexpectedly September 19, 2009. The love of his life were his two daughters, Tori Lynn and Kobi Nicole. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Meier in 2002.
Services at Noon on Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Harlan Gillespie and Rev. Carol Sunberg will officiate. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday and at the Church after 11:00 AM on Friday.
Steven was born on February 8th, 1958 in Pasadena, California. He moved to Cedar Rapids along with his family in 1967 where he graduated from Washington High School (1976) and attended and played baseball at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. He then attended Lewis and Clark College on a full ride baseball scholarship in Lewiston, Idaho.

Steve married Vicki Jellison on November 27th, 1992. They had two children, Tori Lynn (15 years old) and Kobi Nicole (10 years old). Steve and Vicki later divorced and she remarried Jim Reiner. Steve lived in Clarkston, Washington and worked for the Transportation Department for the state of Idaho for 25 years.

Steve played Warrior baseball under the coaching of Mr. Harold (Pinky) Primrose, played Warrior football for Mr. Wally Sheets and later played American Legion Baseball for Mr. Kenneth Charipar where they qualified for the American Legion Baseball World Series in Rapids City, South Dakota in 1975.

Steve loved the outdoors including camping and fishing. He was still very active and played competitive softball and basketball. Steve’s passion in life were his daughters; enjoying long bike rides with them and loved watching them excel in softball. His parents and brothers meant the world to him along with his life long friends, Jerry Fleshman and Bob Kelzenberg. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Steve’s daughter’s names.
