Memorial

Clyde Monroe, Sr., 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids. Per Clyde’s wishes his body has been cremated. A memorial gathering with military honors will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial West Side Chapel.

Survivors include his children Robert Monroe, Neila Barr, Molly Monroe, Claude “C.T.” Monroe, and Faith Schliemann all of Cedar Rapids; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Maude Monroe; son Clyde “Spud” Monroe, Jr.; daughter Katrinka Monroe, one brother; and one sister.

Clyde Samuel Monroe was born December 8, 1917 to John and Maude (Miller) Monroe in Carrier Mills, IL. He served his country for 11 years in the United States Air Force serving in Korea. Clyde worked for the Cedar Rapids Parks Department until his retirement.

Military honors by Cedar Rapids American Legion Post No 727.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
