To Lenore, Sally, and the Matejcek family: We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, father, and grandfather. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to you all. We just read the memorial and it sounds like Marshall not only touched the lives of his family but the lives of many others. We are long time friends of Jeff and Sally's and I believe we only had the opportunity to meet Marshall and Lenore once at Jeff and Sally's wedding. May the many happy memories you've shared bring a smile along with a tear. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I just read the paper and was very sad to read about Mr. Matejceks passing. He was one of the first positive male role models I had at a very important time in my life. For three years at Roosevelt he was my Coach, Counselor and friend. We would talk sports always and he always wanted to know how I and school was doing.I was fortunate enough to know his daughters and they are as special as he was. Please accept my heartfelt condolencense and know that I have and will continue to think of Mr. Matejcek fondly and often.God bless.

On September 8, 2009 God took the worlds greatest grandpa, father, husband and friend But we all know you are in a better a place now, a place where your life will never end Why he choose you Grandpa is something Ill never understand Please help us out down here, we really need a helping hand You had a smile that could light up the sky I wish I could see it one last time, tell you I love you and say goodbye You had the bronzest skin and the whitest hair around It was painful to see you in that pale hospital gown We grandkids will always remember you as the biggest fan of all our fans Youd sport our team colors and yell from the stands I remember you sitting at my freezing cold soccer high school game You stayed just to watch my ten minutes of freshman-playing-varsity-fame Everything we do, we do for you, every match, every race, game or play Help us out please when you know were having an off day You were a fighter Grandpa, everyone knows you were You went through everything, ups and downs, both Im sure Remember that time you had to drive Aarons gross little blue car? I didnt know my way home even though we hadnt gone far All the cars were passing us on the highway, I told you to speed up some more You just started laughing and said,Kara the pedals on the floor!

Or how could you forget me and Kaylie coming to Grandma and Grandpa Camp to stay? Ill always remember playing wiffle ball this Easter, you and Grandma win MVP Id say! Nobody will ever take your place in my heart You held me in your arms from the very start I could go on forever listing memories you have left behind Shooting the BB-gun and feeding the neighbors dog Mesha anything we could find Whos going to make fun of me for going on an 8-mile-lost-run? Gosh Grandpa, we had so much fun! Matt reminded me about all the times you would give us a hard flick You’d buy glasses at every sale and trust me Grandma will never understand your trick You loved to shop at Aldis and buy snacks from Menards You were loved by many—teammates, students, family, friends-everyone sent you cards I miss you so much already, things are already tough Without you around, things truly will be rough Especially during the holidays, our birthdays and around Labor Day You still better join us Grandpa, can you hear me when I pray? You asked about school when I came to visit you Those straight As are earned just for you too Help us all out, but mostly Grandma, keep her strong We understand the hospital is now where you wanted to belong You just wanted to go home and sleep in your own bed I dont blame you, who would ever want to be in the hospital instead? You wanted us to wheel you out, for Mark to lift you, you just wanted five steps The memories we shared will forever be kept I dont know if you realized this, but Grandma never left your bed side 56 years together? Now thats true love you cannot hide All we have left of you is memories, pictures, your belongings and of course your cars But me and Grandma know that at night you’re the brightest of all the shining stars Ill miss the smell of your morning coffee, watching you read the paper in your special chair, and of course your chocolate pie

If I told myself Id never see you again Grandpa, Im afraid thatd be a lie Why Grandpa? Whyd you have to go? I’m afraid thats something I will never ever know Ill see you again in heaven someday, Im not sure when I want to thank you for showing me the way Grandpa, I cant even begin to explain how much fun this has been Thanks for feeding me all those scrumptious treats so I could continue to grow in all the wrong directions And for teaching me everything Id ever want to know Listen for me Grandpa, especially at night You werent the greatest Grandpa, you still are and always will be, thats one thing I know Ive got right! I love you Grandpa, you will forever live on in my heart!

To the Matejcek Family: Please accept my heart felt condolences for your loss. My father moved on in February of this year and I've learned that by grabbing hold of the special memories, he lives on with me. I was fortunate to have met most of Marshall's girls / women during my younger years, and have fond memories of some of the times we spent together. I pray for all of you to find comfort in this difficult time. Take care and God Bless! Gregg Klocke

I will never forget "Mr. Matejcek" as I always called him. He was my best friends' dad. He always had a smile on his face when I rode my bicycle down to Sally's house to play- which was almost everyday when we were growing up. My heart goes out to the entire family as he will surely be missed...
