On August 14, 1937 she married Forrest Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Zona is survived by her only child, Marty Ross Smith (Julianne), three grandsons, Brian (Stephanie), Barry (Kelly) and Roger (Natalie), and two step-grandchildren Tom Anderson (Sarah) and Brittain Ezzes (Steve). She also leaves eight great-grandchildren, Riley and Jenna Smith, Ava and Sadie Smith, Sienna and Quinton Smith, John Rowan and Rosemary Anderson.

She was a charter member of Elmcrest Country Club. She belonged to the Cedar Rapids Country Club, the Atlantis Golf and Country Club and First Presbyterian Church.

Zona was known for her spunk and zip. She had a quick wit and a twinkle in her eye. She always loved dancing and walking. She was often seen out in her neighborhood on a walk. She loved her friends and fondly spoke of her Birthday Club. She adored her husband and family and placed them first in her heart. She was very proud of each of them.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cottage Grove Place for their safe and loving care with a special tribute to the staff in the Assisted Living and Memory Care Units. Thanks too to St. Luke's hospice care.
