Douglas L. Goettsch, 49, of 5961 29th Ave. Dr in Vinton died Tuesday July 28, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a courageous battle with cancer. Private family memorial services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.

Survivors include his mother, Laurel (Larry), companion, Karla, sons (Joe, Lane, and Ridge), brother, Donald Jr. (Panda), sister, Lori (Scott) and good friend, Roger Beck (Sandy), nieces and nephews, Aaron, Kierstyn, Nikki, Brett, Chrissy, Amber and Carrie. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and aunts and uncles.

Doug was born on May 16, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald and Laurel Mordick Goettsch. Doug worked in many area body shops and owned Body and Paint by Goettsch in rural Shellsburg. He loved his special years with Ridge, the outdoors, his horses and was an artist with his auto body repair and painting of cars.

Doug leaves a loving family and many friends who will miss him very much. A memorial fund has been established and may be sent to 1632 26th St. NW Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405
