Memorial

Alice Elizabeth Wallace, age 93, died July 8, 2009 at Cottage Grove Place after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Marion at 2 PM Tuesday. Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman will officiate. Private burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and at the church after 1:30 PM on Tuesday.

Alice is survived by a niece, Donna Rae Frost and her husband James of Grasonville, MD, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Wallace and his wife Ruth, of New Hampton, IA.

Alice was the daughter of Carl Wallace and Bessie Howe Wallace. She was born in Marion, Ia., May 18, 1916. She was a secretary at Marion Independent School District and the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion where she had served as Deacon, Trustee and Elder. She was a charter member of the Marion Business Girls Club and a fifty year member of Chapter CS, P.E.O. She was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital, Granger House Museum, and the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
