Memorial
Lenard A. Mundschenk, a resident of Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Marion and Rowley, passed through his final sunset and entered eternal life on July 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Todd Joslin of Cedar Hills Community Church will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters Joanne Wilson of Marion, Linda Fisher and husband David of Hiawatha, Diane Kantz and husband Andrew of Marion, Liza Nern and husband David of Denver, CO, and Penny Whiting of Cedar Rapids; sons Bruce Mundschenk and wife Trish of Dubuque, and Michael Mundschenk and wife Carol of East Dubuque, IL; siblings Emma Kennedy, Katherine Pyka, Julius Mundschenk, Harold Mundschenk, Elsie Wheeler, and Junior Mundschenk; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy; his parents; siblings John, Josephine, William, Walter, Kenneth, and Robert; and great grandchildren Skylar Wolfe and Paige Ishman.
Lenard was born August 15, 1917 in Albion, NE the son of Frank and Anna (Krohn) Mundschenk. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Scott on December 6, 1946; she preceded Lenard in death on April 25, 2003. He was a longtime farmer near Rowley. He also was employed at Boelter’s Appliance. He was a member of Rowley United Methodist Church and served as head usher for many years. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and watching birds. Above all he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for the way he was able to make new friends and loved to talk with anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lenard’s honor.
