Donna L. Buss, 55, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy on Saturday, June 20, 2009 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 – 1st Avenue SW.

Donna, the youngest of three siblings, is now lost to her sisters, Jean Buss of Nevada and Peggy Frett (Dennis) of Illinois, her Aunt Velma and Uncles Thomas and Guerdon of Wisconsin, and many, many dear friends. Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Buss, and her grandparents.

Donna, a long time resident of Cedar Rapids, was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She recently retired from Options of Linn County, after 28 years, and was active in the Special Olympics programs. Her passions were her family and friends, animals, flowers, bowling, Elvis, the Iowa Hawkeyes and coffee.

All who have known Donna, loved her and shared her life – will miss her smile and gentle and caring heart.

A special thanks to the entire staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the loving care they extended to Donna during her stay. Donna would want us to say “thank you so much.”
