Karen Ann Bryer, 61, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday June 30, 2009 at her home after a sudden illness. Memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Topeka, Kansas. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include her brother, Jody Bryer and nephew Carleton Bryer both of Topeka, Kansas as well as many friends in the Cedar Rapids area. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen was born on Sept. 23, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Joe and JoeAnn Howell Bryer. She worked at Verizon in customer service and also at City News as a clerk for several years. She was a very active volunteer with Theatre Cedar Rapids both back stage and at the box office. Karen always had a positive attitude; even though the flood of 2008 took her home she still remained up beat and always looked on the bright side of everything.
Memorial donations may be given to Theatre Cedar Rapids in Karen’s name.
